Nutrition Support Project

Nutrition Support, a program designed to support people receiving Antiretroviral Therapy drugs in underserved communities of Nancholi and surrounding areas urgently seeks support as for a couple of months now the program is no longer in operation due to insufficient funds.

For years the program has been a pillar in assisting those people whose weight was low so that they may regain their weight after receiving assorted items provided by NAYO through Nutrition Support program under Stepping Stone for Disadvantaged (SSID) project.

Some of the assorted items provided were include, Porridge, Beans, Groundnuts, Sugar and Cooking Oil, just to mention but a few on monthly basis.

In a light of circumstances, SSID project is reaching out for support to people living with HIV/AIDS with Palliative care services.

As such the organization is calling upon well-wishers and the corporate world at large to help the clinic with everything they have and with increased support, it can continue to make a significant difference in the lives of people it serves.

Nutrition and Food Preparation Management Training

HIV and AIDS are well known for causing severe weight loss known as ‘wasting’. It is also known that weight loss strongly predicts illness or death among PLWHA. More recently it has been found that this applies even to people taking antiretroviral treatment. The project therefore mobilized 50 PLWHA and provided them with the skills and knowledge in nutrition and food preparation management so that they are able to supplement their diets with the correct nutrition.
